If you love stunning vintage elegance, with modern day creature comforts, look no further than Hotel deLuxe. Whether you are looking for a wedding venue, a gorgeous rehearsal dinner space, or a beautiful spot to get ready for your wedding day, Hotel deLuxe is your place.
Hotel deLuxe has taken the rich and dreamy style of the golden era of Hollywood and transformed their tiny bit of Portland into something straight out of a movie. We sat down with them recently to learn more about what they have to offer Portland couples and we walked away just smitten with their venue and their incredible service and hospitality. Here are some highlights of that visit.
Where are you located and what kind of venue are you in general? (Ballroom, golf course, winery, garden, farm, industrial space, waterfront, etc)
We are a historical hotel located at 729 SW 15th Avenue, Portland, OR 97205. We are walking distance from Providence Park in the Stadium/ Goose Hallow District. Built in 1912, our hotel’s interior showcases a gorgeous history of art deco decor and vintage Hollywood inspiration.
Can you briefly describe your property/space including all the indoor and outdoor options?
With 132 guest rooms, 3 private dining spaces, Gracie’s Restaurant, and the original Driftwood Room from 1954, it’s the perfect setting for your special event! We also have a seasonal outdoor putt-putt golf course, located across the street from our hotel, called the 19th Hole.
What is the maximum number of guests that can be seated for dinner and do you one caterer or a preferred list of caterers to choose from?
All of our catering comes from our very own Gracie’s Restaurant. Our chef, Juan Zaragoza, has a passion for food and it becomes evident in every dish he creates! Gracie’s Restaurant can seat 110 comfortably, and 150 standing only reception. Our Screening room can seat 64 guests comfortably and 90 guests standing only.
Do you offer lower rental rates for off season months and/or non-Saturday weddings and does your venue have a rain plan?
Our rental rates depend on the size of your event and the time of day your event takes place. All of our private dining spaces are located within our hotel. Rain or shine the 19th Hole will stay open. The client can decide whether or not to cancel their event or reschedule it. Unfortunately, we do not have indoor space for a putt-putt course.
How long has your venue been hosting weddings and events?
We became Hotel deLuxe in 2006, and before that we were the Mallory. Weddings and events have been hosted at this hotel for as long as we can remember.
And in your opinion, why is Portland (and surrounding areas) such an amazing place to plan a wedding?
Portland is so unique in its own way and can provide a backdrop for any event style or type. Whether you are interested in non-traditional or classic, rustic or industrial, intimate or large scale, Portland has got you covered!
What are a few things that make your venue unique and/or seem to attract wedding couples?
Hotel DeLuxe is a boutique hotel with a timeless elegance and sophistication. Our private dining spaces and our guest rooms exude the golden age of Hollywood with a modern twist!
How would you describe the importance of the venue decision for couples and at what point in their wedding planning process should they be looking and booking their venue?
Typically, the venue is one of the very first items that is checked off a wedding planning list. The availability of the venue will help decide the exact date and time of year for your wedding day.
What is the best part about managing a wedding venue?
Making a couple’s vision a reality is very important to our catering and hotel staff. We try to ensure that all the couple’s needs are met, the entire night runs smoothly, and to make it a night to remember for all guests.
What do you find most challenging about your specific line of work or weddings in general?
The most challenging portion of our line of work is accommodating large groups of people. Anything over 150 guests can become uncomfortable for all parties involved.
What are a few of the most important things that couples should ask their venue before booking?
Most couples think the coordinator at their venue will act as their wedding coordinator. Unfortunately, the majority of the time this is not so. Couples need to verify what their venue will and will not do. This does not just apply for venues, but all wedding vendors. Ensure that you know what capacity a vendor is willing to work. Cover your bases accordingly. Never assume, always ensure!
What is your best advice for wedding clients during their venue search or in general?
Double and Triple check that you have insurance for your wedding day! Mother Nature is unpredictable, and so can your Uncle Bob. Just sayin’….. :0/
Is there anything else you want couples or other wedding professionals to know about you or your venue?
We love celebrating any and all events! Intimate gatherings, large cocktail parties, wedding showers, rehearsal dinners, post-wedding brunches, & bridal afternoon teas!
What is the best way for couples to check out your venue online and/or set up a tour to visit you in person?

We hope you enjoyed getting to know more about this amazing property (and team). They are one of a kind and we highly encourage you to stop by for yourself.
