Where are you located and what kind of venue are you in general?
We are located in Gleneden Beach on the Central Oregon Coast. We are a 205-room luxury spa and golf resort.
Can you briefly describe your property/space including all the indoor and outdoor options?
The main lodge has six unique wedding reception venues that can accommodate anywhere from 25-250 guests. We have three outdoor wedding ceremony locations and we also do beach ceremonies (all Oregon beaches are public, however).
What is the maximum number of guests that can be seated for dinner and do you one caterer or a preferred list of caterers to choose from?
Our largest venue can seat 250 guests. All catering must be from the resort. No outside food allowed except wedding cakes.
Do you offer lower rental rates for off-season months and/or non-Saturday weddings and does your venue have a rain plan?
We do have seasonal rates. Yes, we have a rain-out backup plan.
How long has your venue been hosting weddings and events? And in your opinion, why is Portland (and surrounding areas) such an amazing place to plan a wedding?
Salishan opened its doors in 1965, and we have hosted well over a thousand weddings in the last 50 years! With its moderate climate and beautiful scenery, the Oregon Coast is simply spectacular.
What are a few things that make your venue unique and/or seem to attract wedding couples?
We have many activities and of course golf and spa days available to guests for those down times between wedding activities.
How would you describe the importance of the venue decision for couples and at what point in their wedding planning process should they be looking and booking their venue?
The venue may be the most important wedding-related decision you make. There are many things to consider, and you really can’t start planning in any detail until you have a date and a venue secured.
What is the best part about managing a wedding venue?
Being a small part of a day that people will remember forever.
What do you find most challenging about your specific line of work or weddings in general?
Having unrealistic expectations is a problem for some couples.
What are a few of the most important things that couples should ask their venue before booking?
What, if any, are the hidden costs? What are the rules in regards to noise and end times? What time will we have access to the ceremony and reception venues to do our decorating?
What is your best advice for wedding clients during their venue search or in general?
Be realistic and stick to your budget!
Is there anything else you want couples or other wedding professionals to know about you or your venue?
We would love to see you married here and be a small part of this important life event!
What is the best way for couples to check out your venue online and/or set up a tour to visit you in person?
We are always happy to show couples around the resort in person! Our website will give you a good idea of what to expect, but you should really see us in person to fully appreciate the beauty of Salishan.
