Where are you located and what kind of venue are you in general?
The Evergreen is located in close-in SE Portland. Housed in the former historic Orient Lodge, The Evergreen celebrates the Arts & Crafts style while delivering a modern, state-of-the art event venue with historic charm.
Can you briefly describe your property/space including all the indoor and outdoor options?
Our venue is an indoor industrial space and features tons of exposed brick, amazing natural light, historic architecture, incomparable VOID sound system, full AV capabilities, a large mezzanine, original maple wood dance floor, brass mount glass globe chandeliers, 25’ ceilings with (2) octagonal skylights, a full built in bar, two designated catering staging areas, the best climate control in Portland, extensive electrical, plenty of hang points for floral décor and additional lighting, and a designated bridal suite!
What is the maximum number of guests that can be seated for dinner and do you one caterer or a preferred list of caterers to choose from?
Maximum seated capacity for dinner is 200 and 550 for a standing reception. We have a wonderful list of very talented preferred caterers to choose from; there is something suited for every tastebud!

Do you offer lower rental rates for off season months and/or non-Saturday weddings and does your venue have a rain plan?
We do not have seasonal rates. We do offer lower rates on weekdays and Sundays!
How long has your venue been hosting weddings and events? And in your opinion, why is Portland (and surrounding areas) such an amazing place to plan a wedding?
We have been hosting weddings and events for 2 years and counting! Portland is such a fun town to host a wedding or an event. There is so much to see and do and Portland has become such a unique destination city. What an incredible place to bring out of town guests. From the history, to the restaurants, to the outdoor adventure you truly can’t beat it.
What are a few things that make your venue unique and/or seem to attract wedding couples?
The historic nature of our space mixed with modern touches makes us a
truly unique venue right in the heart of the city.
How would you describe the importance of the venue decision for couples and at what point in their wedding planning process should they be looking and booking their venue?
Venue selection seems to be the jumping off point for so many other decisions. The venue can set the tone for an overall theme, the dress, event décor,and more. The venue seems to almost always be the very first major decision for many couples.
What is the best part about managing a wedding venue?
The best part of managing a venue is being a part of the best day of peoples lives! We get to truly experience all of the emotions of their day and be part of a memory that will last a lifetime. We also absolutely love seeing different visions come to life; the creativity of brides, grooms, and industry professionals never ceases to amaze us.
What do you find most challenging about your specific line of work or weddings in general?
There are only so many available days in the summer! The more I see weddings embracing other seasons and different days of the week, the more I try to encourage couples to consider something outside the traditional.

What are a few of the most important things that couples should ask their venue before booking?
Capacity is usually the first thing to ask. It’s always good to know if
a venue can accommodate your guest list in the way you want it to. Other
important questions include asking if they have an exclusive or preferred catering list, how their bar program runs, and of course what comes with the venue fee (furniture, site manager, etc.). Also, very important to understand payment guidelines and policies and make sure they work with what you need.
What is your best advice for wedding clients during their venue search or in general?
My advice is to find a venue that really feels right, but not to overthink it too much. It is sometimes hard to find something that checks off every single one of your boxes. Try to book somewhere you can truly envision your friends and family celebrating; somewhere that is a reflection of you as a couple!
Is there anything else you want couples or other wedding professionals to know about you or your venue?
We have a great partnership with the one and only Loyal Legion and there is an option for a private cocktail hour at Loyal Legion; it’s a great spot for a pre/post wedding beverage as well!
What is the best way for couples to check out your venue online and/or set up a tour to visit you in person?
Both! We suggest visiting our website and/or Instagram page
to get a feel for the venue and how it can come to life. Setting up a tour is the next step once you think we might be the right fit! This will give you an opportunity to see the venue first hand and ask any outstanding questions.
