How long has your venue been hosting weddings and events? And in your opinion, why is greater Portland such an amazing place to plan a wedding?
Ironlight will open its doors in March 2020. Our team has been diligently working to design and build this venue for three years (but the dream started many years ago!). Couples today are looking for unique experiences for themselves and their guests during their wedding day. Portland is a city where you can get married with a mountain in the backdrop and eat a chef’s dinner at the reception. What other city can offer that experience?!
What are a few things that make your venue unique or seem to attract wedding couples?
In addition to stunning Pacific Northwest mountain views, Ironlight will feature an onsite, commercial kitchen that will allow caterers to execute high-caliber food. We have consulted with catering teams in Portland on the design and layout of the kitchen to ensure the guest experience is outstanding.
How would you describe the importance of the venue decision for couples? And at what point in their wedding planning process should they be looking and booking their venue?
Where a couple books their venue will influence every detail of their wedding day. Booking the venue first will set the tone for the guest count, décor and ambiance of the event. Often times, venues have a carefully selected preferred list of vendors including caterers, event rental companies, lighting and more. These vendors will build a wedding around the venue based on their experience navigating the space. This ultimately leads to a smoother event flow and memorable wedding day.
What do you find most challenging about your specific line of work or weddings in general?
Time! As a venue, we want to make sure we can accommodate a couple’s wedding day vision – everything from budget to centerpieces. We wish there were more hours in the day to spend executing the fun details.
What are a few of the most important things that couples should ask their venue before booking?
Couples should always ask the venue how the ideal wedding sets up in their space in terms of capacity and event flow. This can help the couple determine if the venue fits their wedding vision.
What is your best advice for wedding clients during their venue search?
Select a venue that is continually investing in its infrastructure and staff. This likely means that the venue is run efficiently from a management perspective and the team of vendors are high-quality.
Is there anything else you want couples or other wedding professionals to know about you or your venue?
Ironlight will provide couples a one-of-a-kind venue experience. From our mountain views to commercial kitchen, Ironlight will be a place where couples make memories for a lifetime.
