Sloshy Pops: A Treat For Every Season!

You may have heard of Sloshy Pops, Portland’s delicious boozy popsicles, and may have even seen them served at a summer wedding in town. But did you know that they have winter flavors too? Sloshy Pops are available all year long, and make a delightful wedding treat no matter the season! We chatted with owner Cheryl Lisowski – read on for her insights on Sloshy Pops for winter weddings.

WHAT FLAVORS ARE ON The WINTER MENU?

Cheryl gave us a peek at their holiday menu, which includes 5 tasty options:

  • Salted Carlton Rye Caramel Apple: Heirloom apples, baking spice, house caramel, salt, and Bull Run Carlton Straight Rye whiskey
  • Magdalena Plum: Oregon plums, balsamic, cardamom, and Casa Magdalena rum
  • Aviation Gin &Tonic: Fresh squeezed mixed citrus, candied oranges, tonic, and gin
  • Poached Pears and Brandy: Red wine poached pears, baking spice, orange oil, lemon, and pear brandy
  • Non-Alcoholic Orange Creamsicle

If these flavors don’t match your wedding, don’t worry! “We also offer customized flavors for our clients,” Cheryl said.

WHAT MAKES SLOSHY POPS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER ICY TREATS?

“Sloshy Pops are made with the freshest in-season fruits,” Cheryl said. “We use local farmers as much as possible. We also only use a light touch of sugar and pride ourselves in highlighting the natural sweetness of the fruits.  Generally speaking, we use about a quarter of sugar compared to other popsicle and ice cream companies.” They also love to use local distilleries as much as possible! Some of their partnerships include Bull Run Distillery, House Spirits Distillery, New Deal Distillery, and Wild Roots Distillery.

ARE SLOSHY POPS ONLY MADE WITH HARD LIQUOR?

Nope – they also use wine! In fact, Cheryl says that “wine pops are some of our favorites, actually.”Local wineries they love to use include Montinore Estate and Stoller Vineyards, as well as the Portland Bottle Shop.

ANYTHING ELSE to KNOW ABOUT SLOSHY POPS FOR WEDDINGS?

Cheryl said, “We offer hosted cart services and travel outside of Portland for weddings. We deliver and can pack up our pops in custom coolers to be delivered to your home for a small fee.  Dry ice will keep the pops frozen for up to 24 hours.  Sloshy Pops can be kept in a home freezer if your freezer keeps pretty cold.  Our pops can also be picked up at our commissary kitchen on SE Foster Road, if arranged in advance.”
