How to make the most of your wedding budget

Tips for making the most of your wedding budget!

Getting engaged is such a blissful and exciting time! Do not let the stress of planning your “perfect” wedding get you down!

Whether you are the couple that is looking for a planner to come in right after your engagement to help you plan the entire event, or you want to take on the task of planning on your own, there are some things you should know!

Before you do anything, make a list of priorities.

Whether you and your fiancé make them separately or together, make a list. Start out just jotting down the things that you really want for your wedding day. Awesome wedding planner, flowers, photographer, food, alcohol, big dance party, unique décor, ice cream bar… you get the idea! Once you have all of your wildest dreams on paper start circling your NEEDS. I don’t mean the, “I really NEEEED a VW bus to drive into our venue and serve root beer floats for 3 hours”, I know that sounds amazing but it is not a priority to make the wedding happen! Priorities are a place, things for people to eat/sit on, someone to marry you, and food/alcohol.

To have a wedding and reception, AKA a wonderful party to celebrate your love and commitment with your friends and family, you need these things. Once you have decided on the things that you truly need, budget that in first. Start with the most important and work your way down.

Okay! You have a wedding coming together!

That wasn’t too painful! Now, remember that list you made with all of the circles on it? Grab it back out and circle your top 3 “I love this and want this at my wedding” items. I am talking invites, coordinator, photographer, DJ/band, and flowers. I personally go crazy over flowers, an awesome band/DJ, and the most talented photographer. But I also like to PAAARTAY! That isn’t everyone’s jam so YOU need to prioritize YOU! It can be hard to remember this when you are trying to accommodate your family and friends, but after all, this is your wedding and it’s the one night that you get to let your personalities SHINE!

“Be a sponge and soak up any information that seasoned wedding pros have to offer!”

So now that you have all of the things you feel like you really need, and the things that you want worked into the budget, you can breathe a sigh of relief! This is coming along well and turning into quite the celebration! Now, if there is some room left in your budget, have fun! Get that VW bus, book the beautifully married llamas, buy the SHOES!!! The sky is the limit and if you prioritize things you can fit more into that budget than you think.

My last piece of advice is to be a sponge and soak up any information that seasoned wedding pros have to offer. We are in this industry because we love it and we truly want to help you make your day special!
