If you have family and friends who are traveling to Portland during your wedding, one way to be an extra wonderful host is to provide them with a list of local tourist activities to enjoy! Read on for our recommendations for your out-of-town wedding guests.
For your guests who want a standard tourist experience, there’s lots to do downtown – walking the Waterfront, hitting the PSU Farmer’s Market, visiting Pioneer Courthouse Square, hitting up the infamous Voodoo Doughnut and Powell’s Books, and getting coffee at Stumptown.
For your guests who like being outside but don’t want to leave the city, Washington Park is a great walkable option. It includes the Oregon Zoo, the Japanese Garden, the International Rose Test Garden, and the Hoyt Arboretum. Nearby is the Pittock Mansion as well.

Columbia River Gorge
For your outdoorsy guests who don’t mind leaving the city (and have access to a car), the Gorge is a great option. They can visit the famous Vista House and Multnomah Falls, or many of the other surrounding waterfalls. They can also go over the Bridge of the Gods and take in the gorgeous view. A fun stop on your way to or from the Gorge is McMenamin’s Edgefield.
For your guests who love wine, Willamette Valley is one of the best wine regions in the country. Some lovely wineries to visit are Domaine Serene, Sokol Blosser, and Red Ridge Farms (which also has olive oil tasting!).
For your guests who like a local experience, have them explore some neighborhoods! There are many streets in town – such as NE Alberta St., N Mississippi Ave., SE Division St., and NW 23rd Ave. – that house many fun shops and restaurants. Don’t forget to take them to Salt & Straw!
If It Rains…
For your guests who aren’t used to rain – if it happens to be raining during their stay and they want an indoor activity, have them check out the Portland Art Museum or OMSI, or dine at Portland City Grill.
PDX Aerial Tram
And finally, for your guests who want to do something quick and fun, the Portland Aerial Tram is a great, affordable activity – they can take a short ride and see the best views of the city!
